Icons of London

In my twentieth year of calling London home, I left and came back sober. Doing so, I reexperienced the magic of the city, which first drew me in all those years ago.

That’s where Icons of London began.

I started asking people a simple question: who is London’s most iconic Londoner? The answers came from strangers, friends, colleagues and conversations on the street. Local legends, household names, outliers, rebels and the odd bandit. Each nomination said something about the person asking as much as the person being celebrated.

Icons of London is a living archive; a portrait project that grows with the city. What began as the First 50 is now an ongoing series, expanding borough by borough, community by community, story by story.

Every portrait is accompanied by a quotation that reflects the spirit of the sitter. Limited edition prints are available as museum-quality giclée prints on Hahnemühle German Etching fine art paper.

You may agree with some. You may argue with others. I believe this speaks to a healthy society.
