Born in Hampstead, raised between London and Hollywood, Elizabeth Taylor became one of the greatest film stars the world has ever seen. That quote says everything about her — honest, unapologetic, entirely herself. She never quite lost her London roots.

This portrait is part of Icons of London — a growing watercolour archive celebrating the people who shape the culture, folklore and identity of the city, painted by British-Swiss artist Nicholas a. Ferguson in his twentieth year of living in London.
